Data 21 Addresses Compression and Cryptography Product Convergence with ZIP/390 & ZIP/VSE v5.0
TORRANCE, California, November 15th, 2006 - Data 21, Inc., announces availability of ZIP/390 v5.0 and ZIP/VSE v5.0. Among the new features and enhancements introduced in this latest of updates is a new and improved Cryptographic Facility designed to enable its users to address a broader range of zSeries centric encryption applications.

"With the addition of the new Cryptographic Facility in version 5.0 the offering is addressing two product niches, (1) that of a WinZip for zSeries product and (2) that of a data encryption product for zSeries", said David Kennedy, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Data 21, Inc. "Now, in addition to our support of strong encrypted ZIP, PGP and PDF files for securing the data in file/document deployment applications, the products provide batch and cryptoAPI encryption functions for securing native mainframe files and fields (e.g., Credit Card numbers, SSN numbers, etc.) as well. We have seen an increase in demand for these capabilities; due to what we are attributing to a broadening of requirements to include securing data 'at rest' as well as during transit".

"Data 21 will continue to advance in the zSeries encryption arena with the goal of offering robust and broad-based functionality at a reasonable price"
, stated Kennedy.

ZIP/390 SecurePartner Edition Reduces Barriers to Secure Exchange with Business Partners
TORRANCE, California, January 9th, 2007 - Data 21, Inc., announces availability of SecurePartner Edition of ZIP/390 and ZIP/VSE for zSeries. SecurePartner Edition provides a platform for secure electronic exchange of files between a sponsor and its partners, with no licensing expense to the partners.

With the scope of data privacy mandates expanding to include the requirement that data remain secure at rest as well as during transmission, secure transmission alone (e.g., VPN, SFTP, etc.) is no longer enough in many cases. One way to insure that information is secure both during and after transmission is to exchange strong encrypted files. Entities wishing to exchange strong encrypted files must agree upon and implement a file encryption format. ZIP AES and PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) are two popular such formats; SecurePartner Edition supports both formats. The free SecureClient and choice of encryption formats serve to eliminate two potential barriers to partner participation. Relatively simple implementation and advanced compression/encryption performance features address two other common concerns.
